Summer Recreational Programs

The City offers recreational programs for all ages.  You can download a brochure here.   Please contact kgathercole@cityofasbury.com if you have any questions regarding recreational programming in the City.



Fun in the Sun is a summer recreation program for children ages 5-12 from June 12 to August 4.  Crafts, games and field trips are just some of the activities in this program.  This program starts at 9:30 until Noon, Monday, Wednesday and Fridays at Asbury Park (drop off will be at the far west end of the park).  Children are encouraged to bring a snack and drink.  Wearing tennis shoes to camp is highly recommended.

Choose the right camp for you!

Discovery: Ages 5-6

Explorers: Ages 7-8

Pathfinders: Ages 9-10

Navigators: Ages 11-12


Cost includes a t-shirt:

Resident                       $96 per child*

Non-Resident              $112 per child*

*2nd sibling receives $5 discount. Every additional sibling beyond 2nd receives $10 discount.


We will be offering a free Counselor in Training opportunity for teens aged 13-15. This will give them a chance to develop leadership skills, help staff organize activities, and gain confidence building character in local youth. There is no cost to participate in our Counselor in Training program.  Participants can register using this form (HERE). Limited space is available.



Youth Instructional Tennis will be offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays from June 13 to August 3. This USTA sanctioned program is great way to develop skills from experienced instructors.  Don't forget your water bottle and racquet!

Intermediate (Age 10+)            9-10 a.m.

Learn to play winning tennis. 

 Beginner (Ages 6-8)               10-11 a.m.

For children with little or no experience.   Introduction to the game with a focus on fun. 

Adv. Beginner (Ages 8-10)      11-12 p.m.

Learn to play the game, keep score, strengthen strokes, serve and volley. 




Resident                        $48 per child

Non-Resident               $60 per child



Youth Volleyball Camp is offered on Tuesday and Thursdays from June 13 to August 3.  The lessons are for children 8-11 years of age.  Lessons will cover how to serve, bump, set, spike, develop skills, good sportsmanship, teamwork and fun. Sign up with your friends and have some fun learning how to play volleyball.


Beginners: 10:00-11:00 a.m.

Intermediate: 11:00-12:00 p.m.



Resident                     $48 per child

Non-Resident            $60 per child



Youth Basketball Camp will focus on fundamental skill development of dribbling, passing, and shooting. Incorporating games and challenges in each practice will improve footwork and overall basketball knowledge in a fun environment. This program will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from June 13 to August 3.


Ages 6-8: 9:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m.

Ages 9-11: 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m.



Resident $48 per child

Non-Resident $60 per child



PGA Golf Professional Jeremy Hawkins, the head golf pro at The Meadows Golf Club, will host a Junior Golf Academy, a week long instructional golf program, at The Meadows Golf Club.  The week long academy will be held June 12-16 for Junior Golfers.  (June 19 is a rain date)


The academy is open to junior golfers ranging in age from 6 to 13 years old.  Skills taught during the academy will include:  full swing, short game, putting and bunker play.


Class times are:

Ages 10-13                      8-9 a.m.

Ages 6-9 - Class 1         9-10 a.m.

Ages 6-9 - Class 2         10-11 a.m.


Cost includes a special gift:

Resident $55 per child

Non-Resident $60 per child
