2019-2020 Schedule:

A Christmas Carol (kids edition)
Performed by Virginia Repertory Theatre
Sunday, December 8, 2019 – 2:00 P.M.
An intimate production of this perennial holiday favorite and perhaps the best loved Christmas story of all time, this musical adaptation of Dickens’ classic is particularly suited to children. Watch Mr. Scrooge have a change of heart from stone to gold as he is visited by the ghosts of Christmas. All the joy, sentiment and meaning are here, without being too scary for young audiences. www.va-rep.org/tour

Missoula Children’s Theatre presents Pinocchio
Saturday, January 25, 2020 – 10:00 A.M. & 2:00 P.M.
Missoula Children’s Theatre presents an original adaptation of this classic fairy tale featuring a cast of local youth. Geppetto fashioned the puppet in the image of a small boy. Even as the lonely and kind woodcarver worked far into the night, old Geppetto was not aware that the wood under the chisel had come from the trunk of an enchanted tree. But the Blue Fairy was aware, as she watched from afar and gave to that puppet the gift of life. Thus, begins the Missoula Children's Theatre adaptation of one of the most beloved of all children’s stories–PINOCCHIO. Join our wooden-head as he dances with Geppetto’s charming toys, travels the road to Pleasure Isle with Candlewick and his Crew, and is swindled by the unsavory Fox and Cat. After escaping the clutches of the evil puppet master, Stromboli, Pinocchio finds himself in trouble once more–this time swallowed by a monstrous whale. Very scary stuff! As Geppetto and the friendly Urchins spin their magical tale, we learn with Pinocchio that there are no shortcuts on the road to becoming a real, live boy. www.mctinc.org/mct-tour

The Princess and The Pea
Performed by Lexington Children’s Theatre
Sunday, February 9, 2020 – 2:00 P.M.
What does it take to be a princess? Is it bravery? Kindness? A fabulous wardrobe? Or does figuring out your royal stature have a more legume kind of nature? Join us for this fun and funky retelling of a Hans Christian Andersen classic as we find out what happens when you put “princess-ness” to the test. We’ll give you a hint – being a princess isn’t about this or that, being YOU is where it’s at! www.lctonstage.org

Asbury Park Tree Lighting Ceremony

Date: Friday, December 6th
Time: 7:00 pm - 7:45 pm
Location: Asbury Park

Join us in Asbury Park to kick off the countdown to Christmas. Santa will be at the park from 7:00 – 7:30 to visit with kids. At 7:30 Santa will be lighting the new Christmas tree in Asbury Park as a symbolic start to the holiday season. Choirs from Carver Elementary School will perform carols throughout the event (singing along is very much encouraged).

The brand new Asbury Park Christmas tree is small this year. It will continue to grow as our community continues to grow. The City will provide the lights, but we hope that you will join in the holiday spirit by helping us decorate the tree. Bring an ornament from home to hang before we turn on the lights. Together as a community, we will decorate the tree and kick off the holiday season!
