A new Iowa law (Senate File 303) changes how cities and counties regulate fireworks. As of this year, cities like Asbury can no longer prohibit or limit the use of fireworks on July 3rd, July 4th, and December 31st.
While fireworks are now allowed on these dates, usage is still limited to the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. in Asbury.
Please note that state laws still apply:
- Fireworks cannot be sold to or used by minors.
- Larger “display” fireworks still require special local permits.
We encourage everyone to enjoy the celebrations responsibly, be mindful of neighbors, and prioritize safety.
