This list is not all inclusive. If you have any questions whether your project requires a building permit, please call City Hall at 563.556.7106.

REQUIREMENTS FOR NEW CONSTRUCTION

The City requires a permit before work begins. Separate permits are required for electrical, plumbing, mechanical and excavation work.   In addition, contractors must obtain Erosion Control Permit and Post Construction Stormwater Permit.

Once work is completed, the contractor is required to call for inspection of work.   For inspections call ECIA 24 hours prior to inspection at 563.556.4166.

All new construction homes are required to be equipped with dual-sensor smoke detectors as required by the State Fire Marshal.

If you have any questions regarding permits, you may contact Doug Hummel at [email protected].
